APPALACHIAN STEM ENRICHMENT ACADEMY (ASEA)

The ASEA provides interactive STEM learning opportunities and promotes interest in STEM careers for elementary school, middle school, and high school students throughout Appalachia Ohio. This academy will be funded in collaboration and carried out by a team of professionals in the Voinovich School US DOE EM PORTSfuture Program, Voinovich School Environmental Group and AEP Foundation funds, Ohio University’s Masters of Science of Environmental Studies degree program, and various faculty throughout the Voinovich School and Ohio University. The virtual academy will provide several career tracks in specific substantive areas and will include a blending of seminars, interactive online sessions, hands-on learning activities, and student sharing via their online postings, videos, and social media interaction. The Voinovich School team will leverage our partnerships in the career track areas, and we intend to incorporate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from the private sector and from national laboratories to serve as instructors and advisors to this effort.
